The Afternoon Show (Wednesday)

With Harrison Horsley The Afternoon team invite you to join in the fun on Wednesdays with Harrison Horsley.  At 4.15 he'll play Box Office Radio’s very own Mini Matinee – four songs back to back from the same show with no interruptions! In the first hour you can join in the "Daily Dose of Disney" and later in the show celebrate the shows we can currently see on a stage […]

Hello! I am Harrison, Box Office Radio’s youngest presenter, at 20!

I am very enthusiastic about all things theatre, having taken A level courses in Drama and Theatre Studies, Film Studies and Photography and currently training in Musical Theatre at LMA. I love performing and it is my dream to become an actor on the stages of the West End and across the UK! There was no one thing that got me into theatre, but instead a variety of different milestones that made my love grow. I realised how much I loved creating, devising, and performing pieces and it really made me appreciate how incredible the theatre is. I remember watching Peter Pan Goes Wrong when it was broadcast on BBC One, which made me fall in love with my favourite theatre company, Mischief Theatre. However, Beetlejuice the Musical and Hamilton were the shows that got me into musical theatre particularly!

Aside from theatre and performing, I am a keen cinephile (HAJH5 on Letterboxd) and when Winter starts rolling in, I love all things Christmas! Also, as a keen script-writer, I have written plays called Killer at the Kelpies (a comedic and farcical murder mystery), I’ll Have What He’s Having (a prequel to the song ‘Copacabana’ by Barry Manilow) and I’m currently in the process of developing and adapting different scripts!

My most recent roles have been at the Loft Theatre in Royal Leamington Spa, currently in their production of One Man, Two Guvnors as Gareth & Others. Previously at the Loft, I have played Bobchinsky in The Government Inspector, Ensemble in Glorious and Tony Burtoft in Up N Under.

In training, I played many different roles including Demetrius in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Algernon Moncrieff in The Importance of Being Earnest, Fat Sam and Knuckles in Bugsy Malone, Winston Smith in 1984, The Maniac in Accidental Death of an Anarchist, Mr. Mistoffelees in Cats, Tick/Mitzi Mitosis in Priscilla: Queen of the Desert, Hermes in Hadestown and Sam Carmichael in Mamma Mia.

I will be playing some of my favourite songs and sharing my love of theatre The Afternoon Show, every Wednesday from 3pm-6pm. Not only will I be joined by some fabulous celebrity guests, but each week, I award Horsley’s Hotshot to someone inspirational from the world of Musical Theatre, we will play a game of connect 4, and hear from this week’s competitors of West End Wimbledon. (In a Beetlejuice voice…) It’s Showtime!
