With Mark Pickett End your working week with Mark on Fridays as he brings you 'The Best of Stage & Screen!' Join him from 9am every Friday morning for two hours during which he'll bring you well known tunes, and some lesser-known gems, from the world of Musical Theatre. CONTACT THE SHOW - mark@boxofficeradio.co.uk
Mark has had a lifelong passion for musical theatre and film music, with a love of live performance that has taken him to theatres around the world. From spectacular West End productions to Broadway hits and intimate fringe shows, Mark has experienced the magic of the stage in all its forms – and now he brings that enthusiasm to the airwaves.
Originally from Leeds, he grew up in Rochdale and eventually settled in London in the late 1980’s. It was there he quickly discovered his first West End musical, Starlight Express.
But Mark’s love of theatre doesn’t stop at the big productions. He’s equally enthusiastic about discovering smaller fringe shows, exploring lesser-known musicals and revisiting the works of celebrated composers. For Mark, there’s always another show to discover, another cast recording to fall in love with and another theatrical story waiting to be told.
Away from the theatre, Mark has spent most of his career working in television, both behind the scenes and in front of the camera. He lived in Sydney, Australia for many years, became a proud Aussie and then travelled the world working on board luxury cruise ships. He currently works as a Radio News Studio Director at the BBC in London, bringing a wealth of broadcast experience to his presenting role.
Whether you’re a lifelong musical theatre fan, a film music enthusiast or simply love a great tune with a story behind it, Mark will be your guide to the very best of stage and screen.
