Joey Wilby

Joey Wilby is a Yorkshire born presenter and comic performer, working across stage, screen and radio.

He has been fortunate enough to lead and work on some fantastic productions, including the UK tour of Circus Spectacular as Joey the Clown; hosting Animate It! LIVE for Aardman Animations on P&O Cruises; and Club Tropicana: The Dinner Show as Dennis/Denise, getting to work alongside one of his comedy heroes, Billy Pearce.

Joey is also one of the lead presenters for The Animal Guyz, a wildly popular family theatre show that uses no live animals, but instead aims to learn through laughter. The show tours across the UK to packed out theatres, sails the seas to global audiences, and creates exciting digital content from its in house studio. Whether he’s wrangling a puppet python or a pig, there’s bound to be plenty of laughs and facts.

In 2024, he developed and launched a brand new internal radio station for British retailer NEXT, producing and hosting original content to brighten working days across the country. A project that’s combined his love of presenting with the chance to make everyday life a little more entertaining.

He also hosts the Let’s ‘av a Brew podcast for Theatre North, a Community Interest Company dedicated to celebrating and supporting northern theatre. The podcast features conversations with northern born performers and creatives from across the industry, sharing their journeys, backstage stories, and love for the North!

Pantomime is also a huge part of Joey’s life and this year will be his 10th professional pantomime. Performing as the Comic role has taken him to great places and audiences across the UK including Sheffield, Aviemore, Northampton and Crawley to name a few! He is delighted to work for Evolution Productions and his 2025 venue will soon be announced!

My Favourite Musical is – One that I will always love is Billy Elliot.

My Favourite Movie is – If it’s a Musical Movie, then it’s Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. But just a movie movie, it’s The Cat In The Hat.

My Favourite Song is – I can’t get enough of “For The Gaze” currently.

My Favourite Performer is – Henry Lewis (one of the founders of Mischief Theatre). I think he is ridiculously funny.

The First Musical I saw was – Joseph and his Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at Leeds Grand. I can’t remember the year but I was very young.
