The Choir of Man – Arts Theatre, London

I’ve been desperate to see The Choir of Man for quite some time and the show did not disappoint, in fact, it was nothing short of spectacular. From start to finish, it was an electrifying experience that left the audience buzzing with excitement.

The show is more than just a musical; it’s an immersive journey into the heart of the best pub in the world. From the moment you step into the theatre, you’re not just a spectator, you’re an active participant in the show, beginning with the spirited invitation to join in the fun, by sharing a drink on stage. This continues throughout the show, as several audience members end up on stage with the cast and I think we can all agree that there is nothing funnier than seeing your mates be put on the spot in front of an auditorium full of spectators.

With hits from iconic artists like Queen, Luther Vandross, Adele, and more, the soundtrack alone is enough to get you on your feet. But it’s the cast of nine extraordinary actors and musicians who truly steal the show. Their musical prowess, lyrical genius, and sensational vocals create an atmosphere unlike any other in the West End. What sets this production apart is its celebration of community and friendship. Everyone is welcome at “The Choir of Man,” and that inclusivity shines through every moment of the performance. The personal monologues written by Ben Norris add depth and emotion to the show, reminding us of the power of storytelling in connecting with one another.

Credit must also be given to Freddie Huddleston for his outstanding choreography and movement direction which orchestrates a symphony of movement that breathes life into every moment of the production. Huddleston’s work is not merely steps and formations; it’s the heartbeat of the show, infusing each scene with energy, emotion, and narrative depth.

One of the undeniable highlights of the evening was Ben Goffe and his extraordinary tap skills. A standout member of the cast who captivated the audience with his impeccable rhythm, intricate close work, and magnetic stage presence.

The show is a 90-minute extravaganza celebrating the power of music, friendship, and the universal spirit of belonging. Don’t miss your chance to drink in the excitement at the best pub in the world!
