Andrew Brookes

Andrew’s love of theatre was inspired by his beloved Grandma – a women who, well into her 90s, was happiest tapping her feet along to ‘Shall We Dance’ from The King and I. It was at Edinburgh University, where the world-famous Fringe festival transformed this love into an obsession. When Andrew relocated to London in 2015, to train as an emergency medicine doctor, he became an enthusiastic audience member, and increased his “theatre time” further by regularly volunteering as a usher at Southwark Playhouse.

This year, Andrew’s ceaseless enthusiasm has culminated in the creation of his own theatre review website, www.londontheatredoc.com, which has been an instant success. His infectious exuberance, alongside his extraordinary depth and breadth of knowledge, has won him fans from all over the globe and has encouraged many of his friends and colleagues to become theatregoers themselves.

Andrew has spent the beginning of 2024 excited to start presenting on Box Office Radio and he can’t wait for you to join him every Saturday between 12noon and 2pm for ‘At the Theatre with Dr Andrew’. Box Office Radio is the perfect setting for this ‘scrubs-by-day-theatre addict-by-night’, doctor turned broadcaster, to share his insights and champion the shows he loves and admires.

He'd love to hear from you and you can contact him via his website www.londontheatredoc.com. Whether you’re just saying hi, or sharing your favourite songs, shows, movies or theatre tales – he wants to hear what you’ve got to say!
